Job Title – Packaging Engineer
Type – Full-time
Location – Hybrid – Must be able to work in Boston MA 25% of the time

Duration – 6 Months (Extendable)
Working Hours – 40 hours per week

We are seeking a Packaging Engineer to support packaging engineering initiatives, material development, and quality control processes. The ideal candidate will have expertise in materials science, automation, and sustainability in paper manufacturing. This role will involve collaboration with internal engineering teams, external partners, and suppliers to drive innovation and enhance operational efficiency in packaging solutions.

Key Responsibilities:
Organise and track materials for testing, supporting engineering teams in sample management, validation, and analysis.
Participate in technical reviews and collaborate with cross-functional teams to refine packaging concepts and material specifications.
Assist in the development of testing protocols and standard operating procedures (SOPs) for evaluating new materials.
Provide hands-on support for testing activities, including data collection and reporting.
Work with procurement and supply chain teams to source and evaluate a variety of packaging materials.
Maintain oversight of material availability, ensuring supply continuity for key production phases.
Collaborate with suppliers and stakeholders to explore new material innovations and sustainability initiatives.
Conduct testing on packaging materials and related components, ensuring compliance with performance standards.
Analyse and summarise test results, preparing concise reports to support decision-making on material selection and development.
Provide temporary support in quality assurance and compliance processes until a permanent hire is in place.
Assist in sample collection and testing coordination for material validation.
Contribute to the development of quality control strategies and proactive issue resolution.

Basic Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in Chemical, Mechanical, or Industrial Engineering (or Pulp & Paper Science).
3+ years of experience in Paper Engineering or Fibre-based Packaging Engineering.
Ability to travel up to 25%.
Basic Excel and data management skills.
Familiarity with industry-standard testing procedures.

Preferred Qualifications:
Experience in Statistical Modelling.
Background in Materials Engineering.
Expertise in Adhesives & Coating processes.
